Hawaii Tours Frequently Asked Questions
We recommend first-time visitors to Hawaii visit Oahu or Maui. Oahu has lots of options for activities, food, and hotels. The large visitor district is convenient, safe, and has a lot of visitor attractions that are easily accessible. You don't need a vehicle at all. For visitors who are a little more adventurous, they will prefer Maui. The attractions are smaller and more intimate. Big Islands
Looking for the best things to do on the Big Island?
From family-friendly activities to luxury tours, you will find fun activities from Kona to Hilo and everywhere in between. As the name suggests, the island of Hawaii – known as The Big Island – is the largest of the Hawaiian chain. Home to two active volcanoes, lush rainforests, and incredible beaches, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Where you are staying on the Big Island will depend on what tours are available. Located on opposite sides of the island, Hilo is wetter with tropical rainforests and huge waterfalls where Kona is much drier, making for wonderfully warm, sunny days. Book an adventure snorkeling (with manta rays), attend a luau, or watch the sunset and go stargazing. All are amazing experiences here!

A trip for a couple to Hawaii averages about $1000 / day over a 7-night trip that includes 2 islands. That includes a beachfront hotel, flights from the West Coast, inter-island flights, premium tours & activities, on-island transportation, and a personal concierge.
Though any time of the year is beautiful in Hawaii, the peak season (meaning most expensive) is mid December through March and mid June through August. The low season is spring (April thru mid June) and fall (September to mid December). Plan well and book early for peak season travel.
February has great weather compared to the rest of the country and humpback whales are here in big numbers so itʻs a treat to watch them. Itʻs in between the two busy periods (Christmas and Spring Break), so there are usually fewer people and more availability for activities.
The best island is the one where you will feel the best on. Oahu is a busier city with big attractions while Kauai is the exact opposite in almost every way. Big Island has quaint small towns with fewer beaches. Maui is a mix of all the islands, with larger towns, miles of beaches, and lots of activities.
A week is a good time frame to see an island with a few days for relaxing at the beach but with 10 to 14 days you can feel comfortable splitting up your time between two islands. The smaller islands of Kauai and Oahu can be enjoyed with 3 to 5 days but Maui and the Big Island both need a bit more time as you will have more ground (and activities) to cover.
Hawaii basically has two seasons - the dry season (April thru October) and the wet season of (November thru March). Tropical storms or hurricanes can develop nearby in the summer months but the cool deep waters to the east of the islands often deflect or knock out big summer storms.
Some things are easy to do on your own, like getting in some beach time or strolling around town. However many adventures are much better with a guide. Tours often have access to remote locations and guides provide insider knowledge about the history, flora and fauna and other things to do on the island. Taking a tour is the easiest way to relax and not have to think about food, where to go and how to stay safe and comfortable during your excursions.
Peak season activities should be booked 2 to 3 weeks before arrival but some of the more popular stuff like zipline tours and well known luaus can require earlier bookings (4 or more weeks).
If you’re traveling during peak season (summer and winter months) at least a month or more in advance is a good idea. During the low season a few weeks in advance is usually enough to find desired lodging and flights.
While many of our tours offer transportation from major Waikiki hotels or consolidated downtown locations, we advise all guests to check each tour carefully before booking. If you have any questions, please reach out to us via phone or the comment box below.
We have a strict 72-hour cancellation policy, and we do not offer refunds after that time. Any cancellations made in advance will receive a 100% refund.
We coordinate pick-up from vacation rentals on Oahu for an additional fee. For other islands, please give us a call to determine the best transportation options for you and your tour.
We provide many of the Oahu sightseeing and Pearl Harbor tours listed on the site. We work with local, trusted activity companies to provide additional experiences for our guests. (Don't worry—we don't take that responsibility lightly. We vet each company for quality, knowledge, and professionalism.)
Our tours are not associated with any timeshare companies or affiliates.
Our tours are top-rated, so we always recommend booking a tour as far in advance as possible.
Hawaii is the only state that grows coffee and more than one third of the world’s commercial pineapple is grown here. There are four main islands (the Big Island, Maui, Oahu and Kauai) and four smaller islands - Lana’i, Molokai, Niihau (off limits to visitors) and Kahoolawe (uninhabited).
We'll always do our best. Please feel free to reach out to us via phone or the comment box with specific requests.
We are more than happy to accommodate large parties.
We recommend that you enjoy at least 7-nights in Hawaii and plan to spend 3-nights on any one island as a minimum. Any less and you wonʻt recover well from the flights or really relax at the resorts we place our guests in. At least 4 days on an island will give you some time to check out the best parts, some downtime to explore historic nearby towns, hang out in the pools or at the beaches.
While there is no real wrong answer about where to go in Hawaii, Oahu is the most visited with over half of all Hawaii visitors stay here. The island is considered the most affordable and the most accessible. Excursions to another island for the day are easy from Oahu.
